When a tree needs to come down
Trees add a lot to a property, but some reach a point where keeping them is a risk. We will look at the tree with you and tell you honestly whether it should go or whether pruning or cabling can save it.
These are the most common reasons we remove a tree:
- The tree is dead or dying and dropping limbs
- Signs of disease or decay, like discolored leaves, odd growths or rotting bark
- A lean, a cracked trunk or broken limbs after a storm
- Roots pressing on a foundation or branches over the roof
- Clearing space for an addition, a driveway or new landscaping
How we take a tree down safely
Most trees in our neighborhoods are too close to houses, fences and wires to drop in one piece. We plan every removal around what is underneath, then cut and lower the tree in sections.
Our bucket trucks and crane let us reach trees in tight backyards and over roofs, so limbs come down under control instead of falling where they want. Safety for our crew and your property comes first on every job.
Cleanup and the stump
When the tree is down, we clean up the work area and load the wood onto our log trucks. You are not left with a pile of brush in the yard.
We can also grind the stump below ground level, so you can plant grass or landscape over the spot.
Why removal is not a DIY job
Pruning a small branch from the ground is one thing. Taking down a whole tree is another. A wrong cut can send a trunk into a house or a person, and amateur removals can cause serious injuries.
Moore's holds NJ Board of Tree Experts Business Registration # NJTC768614 and Tree Expert and Tree Care Operators License LTCO # 255, and we are licensed and insured.

FAQ
Tree Removal questions
Do I need a permit to remove a tree?
It depends on your town. Some towns require a permit, especially for larger trees or trees near the street. Rules vary, so we can help you check before any work starts.
How much does tree removal cost?
Every tree is different. The price depends on the size of the tree, where it stands, what is under it and how our equipment can reach it. We look at the tree in person and give you a free estimate.
Can you remove a tree that is very close to my house?
Yes. This is a big part of our work. We take the tree down in small sections and lower them with rigging or our crane, so nothing falls on the house.
Do you grind the stump too?
We can. Stump grinding takes the stump below ground level so you can replant or seed the area. Just let us know you want it when we give your estimate.
Can my tree be saved instead of removed?
Sometimes. A tree with a few bad limbs may only need pruning, and a tree with a weak split may be a candidate for cabling. If removal is the safer choice, we will explain why.
